Our Furniture

ApMurra Furniture represents a community collaboration between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal artists, designers, manufacturers and clients to make unique and contemporary steel-framed furniture. The furniture is made in Alice Springs, Central Australia.

By embracing and embedding narratives within our furniture we aim to create furniture that withstands hardy applications to suit both indoor and outdoor environments across Australia.

Our furniture range expresses personality, nature, social and cultural environments through vibrant styling and colouring to suit customer and specific project specifications.

All pieces are individually manufactured at our fabrication studio in Alice Springs with self-pride, high-quality craftsmanship, designed and made to last.

Furniture creating employment and industry pathways for the unemployable and unemployed.

ApMurra Furniture is an initiative of the Centre for Appropriate Technology, also known as CfAT, an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander (ATSI)-owned, not-for-profit company with a majority ATSI membership, board and workforce.

ApMurra’s furniture is manufactured through the CfAT Enterprise Workshop, established in 2013 to provide workforce foundation skills as a pathway to full-time employment in the metal fabrication industry.

These pathways target school leavers, the undecided and unemployed who are looking for work. The overarching aim of the CfAT Enterprise Workshop is to create apprenticeships in the steel metal fabrication industry for Aboriginal people living in and around the Central Australian region of Alice Springs.

ApMurra Furniture is another CfAT Hardy Product that reflects and integrates the very essence of Aboriginal culture in modern society through the principles of togetherness for greater social gains.

Collaborating with artists, designers and industry through social delivery.

ApMurra’s vision is to continue to develop a diverse range of high-quality, story-driven furniture for commercial and residential use, in collaboration with artists and designers. We continue our commitment to training and job security for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and their families in Central Australia.

ApMurra is open to many forms of industry collaboration. Please get in touch if you would like to discuss a projects where ApMurra could lend its unique approach.
