The Exchange, Darling Square, Sydney

Darling Square, a busy precinct close to Sydney's CBD, is being redeveloped into a space for community. A centre point of their redevelopment is The Exchange, a multipurpose building designed by Japanese architect Kengo Kuma. On the ground level is an upmarket food court, Maker's Dozen, fitted out with furniture designed by Koskela and manufactured by ApMurra Furniture.

Koskela is proud to regularly collaborate with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists and makers, and working with ApMurra was no exception. The Koskela design team travelled to Alice Springs to visit the fabrication workshop, and developed the furniture so it could be made using the workshop machinery. Now installed at Maker's Dozen, the Alice Range is the successful result of a collaboration that supports Australian design and manufacturing.
